Even so, doesn't seem like the difference in effort needed to open one vs any other one-hand opener would be important.

The Military is a very smooth opening knife, period !
It's build like a tank just as the big manix.
Compared to a BM I wouldn't say one is better than the other,
they just differ in character.

My new Military, CPM D-2 is nice and smooth. But it isn't even in the same league as my axis lock Benchmades.

I only bought the Military because BM refuses to offer the newest "state of the art" steels. If BM had offered the 610 in CPM D-2, I would have bought it instead of the Military.

Spyderco is going to offer the Military in CPM S90V soon, and I'm going to buy one. But I'd helluva lot rather have a 610 or 710 in S90V.

But I doubt I'll live long enough to see BM offer it.

Dual liners on the Military now? Well, that's an improvement for sure.

Great question and discussion. Had to go drag out the militray and an AFCK.

AFCK is smoother and quicker hands down.

The thumb hole on the AFCK is beveled a bit and that makes it nicer. The military has a great grip and a nice wide blade though--lighter too it seems.

Never could bring myself to get a Military. Yeah it fits the hand well (so does the AFCK), but I don't like design of the lock. To me the AFCK has the better designed lock because of where you have to press to release it.

We need a 615 LE with carbon fiber scales.
Could we also get a 630 with an axis lock?
