both are so nice it's a neck and neck. probably the ritter. 950 will be around for a while. KnifeRights.org Charter Member #606 - How about you? Pardue Pimps® #722 Boomerangs 'n Butterflies: An Osborne Alliance | Member #722

Tough choice, both are great. Maybe I'd favor the 950-1 with the full G-10'd liners, just don't like the Grip handle scales much. 350, 520, 525BK-1101, 530, 580-1102, 580 Proto, 583-1, 585-1, 710-1, 710-2, 710D2, 710HS, 722, 732, 740, 740 Proto, 741, 745, 746, 746-1201, 750, 790, 800, 800HS, 805-1101, 810, 812, 830, 831, 835HS, 840, 845, 890, 905, 907D2, 910, 910SCG, 912D2, 913D2, 12400 Proto, 12410, 14205, 14210, 40022-100. IMHO I would get the 950-1. I just got one and it's a great keeper. My grip sits and collects dust, and will for quite a while. I prefer G10. Plastic just feels cheap to me. My regular 950 has been a great knife ever since I got it, and it's my smoothest Axis I own.

don't forget that you can add epoxy and lead weights to the Grips scales for better weight/balance. KnifeRights.org Charter Member #606 - How about you? Pardue Pimps® #722 Boomerangs 'n Butterflies: An Osborne Alliance | Member #722

I really like my Rift. But, I carry my Ritter more often. In fact, I always take my Ritter with me on trips outdoors. Put it this way: You get big-knife performance in a lightweight model with the Ritter Grip. I like the Ritter's blade shape better than the Rift too. So my vote goes for the Ritter.

I call such dillemas "successfull problems". Get it out of your system and get them both, you know you will anyway. I have the 950 and it is one of my favorites.

The Rift gets my vote. Mine has a very thin edge on it's hih hollow grind which makes it a great slicer, yet the reverse tanto keeps the blade tough. The textured G-10 looks and feels good, it has excellent ergos, and it is more robust than the Ritter due to the G-10 and thicker liner construction. The Ritter is an excellent knife as well, I just prefer G-10 and the thinner edge of the Rift to the Ritter's slightly thicker edge and Zytel handles. Mike

I would go with the 14205. Oh! Sorry you didn't ask about that one. In that case I would go with the HK 14205. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lunatics I salute thee!! http://i248.photobucket.com/al.../M2HSSR/bdd5b559.jpg Boomerangs 'n Butterflies: An Osborne Alliance | Member #22
