I've always gone the more standard route of the AFCK, Skirmish or similar. I've tried the Spyderco Civilian before and much like the karambit, I found it a bit too specialized or limited for my needs. I like to be able to transition between my fixed blade and folders without the need for any further specialized training. The Civilian though does make one heck of a slasher.

Benchmade hasn't really made such a specialized cutting implement. Such designs are appear to be a gamble for a company to produce.

The AFCK is probably the closest you'll find abd it is really a good EDC.

I had a Civilian and just found the design too limiting, since it meant carrying a knife for basically a single purpose.

Have you looked at the P'KAL? A more useful EDC IMO.

Somehow very few people even knew of their production even back in 94. All this GREAT knife got was just a line in a catalog with Limited Edition printed next to it. So far I couldn't even get a definite answer as to how many of them where in fact produced. But I must tell you, this just could be the most efficient design for the job. VERY ergonomic, easily concealable, it can easily cut and pierce at the same time. I swear, if not for the fact that I got lucky and nobody else noticed it on the evil bay last year and more of them were available I'd carry it first, before any other knife. Other then carving or food prep it can substitute for just about any folder or fixed blade.
