roofing is very hard on the body, just being on a roof period is strenous. i was actually doing some prime painting on a roof today where we pulled off rotten window trim and found the siding not painted bihind. my dad roofed for alot of years and it tore his shoulders up. personally for me its the fiberglass that is the worst part of it, irritates the s*** out of my skin. same with crawling through it under houses. i got a small taste of roofing working for tuffshed lol.

During summers and weekends in high school I worked for my girlfriend's father's business moving houses. I did lots of crawling under houses while carrying 4"x10" wood blocks and 40lb. bottle jacks as well as using shovels and 10lb. sledgehammers while laying down. At that time it was a Spyderco in my pocket.

At work now, my Benchmades mostly just go through fingernails, tape, boxes, pop bottles (to make funnels), scrape stickers off glass, and a myriad of random other stuff.

I've got several POS $5 knives I scrape gaskets with or cut the tape off pipe threads, etc. The Benchmades may cut it there, but I don't subject them to that.

carson i can relate with you, my work sends me to replace those wood pads that the mobile homes rest on, so iv gotta drag a bottle jack and 2x12 pads under there, jack up each pad and cinderblock and swap out the pad. sometimes putting termite chemicals to each one during the process. dragging the 2x12s in and out is a nightmare, especially cause its usually around 80 of them (3) to each pier.

I painted houses for a number of years and took a Sear's contractor's razor knife for the typical sheetrock and utility stuff, and carried my 530, first Benchmade, for tape and lunchtime duties.

Now as a professional CMT I use my knives mainly for household and packaging chores, and always have one or the other on me when out and about.

I still have that Sears knife but my Benchmades finally see more use now.
