I was wondering if anyone with a D2 Stryker, or any D2 blade for that matter, has ever noticed any "staining" on the blade. I have had my 910SBK Stryker for almost 4 years now and I have some stains on the edge grind. It isn't rusting or pitting but more like water marks on the exposed steel.

I have tried everything I got to remove them, including gunscrubber which is just carb cleaner with a fancy name. Any ideas?

I've noticed the exact same thing on my 960-10. Like you, I tried to remove it but had no luck. The weird thing is the knife is brand new Confused

Could be the beginning of a light patina starting to form. D2 will discolor a little but not like carbon steel. You can always try some metal polish or some 0000 steel wool if you want to try and get it off. If it is a user and its not rust use it. Usings your tools will keep a lot of the crap off.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the way your statement phrased, Myron. If you are saying that you have a D2 910SBK Stryker that you acquired 4 years ago, that is not possible. The Stryker was upgraded to D2 in 2006, so at most a Stryker with a D2 blade could at most be a little over 2 years old.

Regardless, I never had any problems with the D2 on my 705SBT-05 that a little Flitz couldn't solve.

Hi Myron,

i experienced the same problem with my Benchmade Model 32 Morpho Balisong. I use it as my EDC knife. Over the time, stain marks (looks like water marks) appeared beneath and on the benchmade balisong logo and the "D2" writing on the blade.

Regards,

Julian

D2 is not really Stainless but it is close. As with almost any steel certain things such as blood, acids, sweat etc will cuase at stain on the metal.

I guess that's where the rust stains on my EDC comes from Smiler

Same thing on my 913D2 which I got lightly used in trade, there's a minor stain on the left side of the blade that no buffing with Flitz removes.

It's an EDC so doesn't matter, but the stain is there to see, like a shadow on the blade.
