I was wondering if Benchmade will replace the blade in my 730s(on my dime, as this isn't a warranty issue). I loaned it to a buddy who pretty much trashed the serrations in an attempt to sharpen the blade.

They will, as long as they have them in stock. Your best bet is to call and ask if they have any.

I'll give them a call tomorrow. If they don't have an original Ares blade, hopefully one from the more recent version will fit.

benngunn, please let us know what they tell you when you call Benchmade about the blade swap. Personally, I think you may have some luck in them having a few serrated blades in stock. I know the two Leupold LE's were both serrated blades and that was just 2 or three years ago. If they have any of those, they would swap right into your handle.

I have had good experiences with blade replacement with Benchmade. I have had 2 total Benchmades blades replaced and IIRC the coated blades were 35.00 + shipping and the Satin blades were 25.00. The turnaround time on both was around a week and that included the day it was dropped off at my post office. Congrats on snagging the last 730 BK coated blade they had in stock.

I told them that I'd take it. Hopefully they put it on hold for me under my customer ID #.

Do you know what they typically charge for return shipping? I didn't think to ask them. Thanks, I lucked out in getting the last blade; would have preferred satin but coated will do(will be nice to be rid of the serrations though).

I believe they charge 5.00 for return shipping so your total should be no more than 40.00.
