so I have the 551 with od handel and bock combo edge blade if i payed for it would they replace it with a 154cm black straight edge blade

My understanding is yes they would replace a SBK with a BK as long as they have sufficient stock. For a regular production knife like a 551, stock would not be a problem. You might even be able to pay a little more and get a blade in S30V if that strikes your fancy.

They won't allow for blade steel change on the Griptilian. At least they wouldn't when I called. They want you to buy a whole new knife to get a different steel (using the Customize-a-Grip program).

Yes they will replace your SBK blade with a Plain edge of your choice in 154CM either satin or coated. Like Carson advised they will only replace it with the same steel on your current grip. Welcome to the forum.

If you don't ask, you don't know.

If I had a grip I wanted a blade swap on, I would at least give a try at getting S30V.
