Just today I noticed a strange noise on my 710BKD2.. it is like a clicking noise.. it sounds like something is loose.. but only when the knife is closed....
I found this this video on you tube... a STRIKER 913D2 with the same noise...
Does anybody.. has have this kind of weird sound?
It doesn't bother me too much... but maybe I should send it to BM..
what do you think?
Does anybody knows what it is?

What you're hearing is very likely the stop pin. On the 710, as well as a handful of other models, the stop pin rests in holes in the liners, and isn't actually screwed down. Usually it's wedged in tight enough not to move at all, but in many cases it'll become slightly loose and rattle when the knife is close (i.e., when there's no pressure on the pin from the blade). It's harmless, and to my knowledge has never caused any problems for anyone. My 710 and 552 both have this rattle, and it's never been an issue.

I am sure it's the stop pin. My 710D2 does it as well. When the knife is open and the tang of the blade locks against it it doesn't move, and there's no noise. (Courtesy of the pressure provided by the Axis lock.) When it's closed and with light shaking (and no pressure exerted by the lock,) I can hear it.

I don't think it's a big deal unless yours is really loud, which mine's not - and until a few minutes ago never knew I could rattle it.

One thing: It sure lets you know the Axis lock is working as designed! Smiler

You can put a little clear fingernail polish on the edges of the stop pin. That might shut up the rattle.

When the baby crys .... ...... I just give em my 710 , the rattleing noise keeps him busy for hours.
The wife kind of frowns on it , she thinks the 552 is a better choice. Wink

I disagree with all of the above, I hate to break the news to ya but it's a goner, it's days are numbered, it will probably start to rust on you in a matter of days and it's all downhill from there.
Give to me and I will put it out of it's misery, painlessly of course.
