LOL. I just flagged it as counterfeit, does that ever work? I also sent him the following message:

"You will continue to receive messages stating this is a fake as it continues to be a fake. Did you send a picture to Benchmade to confirm it was legitimate, or only a vague description? The most glaring discrepency is the grind on the blade. It is exactly the same as the other Benchmade fakes from China."

I just logged on and noticed I got a reply.

"yes i did send a very detailed picture and benchmade asured me this was no fake but a late modeled discontinued knife. thank you for your concern.

I also noticed that not only is it still up there, but some poor schmuck bid on it. Of course it could be him with a fake bid.

I pretty much got the same response from him. I mentioned to him in my email among many many things that Benchmade is very good about fixing their knives. Many times it is for free or at least a small reasonable price. I told him if he is so sure of it's genuineness then he should send it in. If not hope that no one who ever buys it from you will or you will have a very unhappy buyer. I kind of feel bad for a person who gets dooped by buying a fake because they really want a Benchmade but are new comer to them and don't realize the ride they are about to go on. Frowner

"I appriciate your concern i did send them a very detailed picture of the knife in question and benchmade asured me this was in fact a real benchmade, but did tell me its a very late modeled discontinued knife. In our conversation he never metioned fixing the thumb disc. You know two or three people say its the thing and two or three people tell me its not, I'm not a knife expert i just go by what i'm told. Again i appriciate your concern and i don't take what you say to be mean or discouraging, so thank you for trying to be helpful."

I'd suggest it's time to move on.

Not only have virtually all of us written the guy but it just looks like there's money to be made and that's all that matters. And NOW we're giving him a free education, which he clearly isn't interested in.

My hope is we're learning something about the difference between real vs. fake in this process
so we won't get screwed by not knowing the product.

The other hope is that the buyer, whoever they might be, does not get injured by this 'piece of work' while trying to use it...that would be the real crime here.
