ok well it's not actually mine, i gave it to a friend some months ago.

well the way he opens it, he does a flick of the wrist, with nothing on the thumb stud or axis lock. i told him it is bad for the knife...and look what happened!:


this is on both sides..first time ever the omega springs(i think) failed on me.

i'm gonna be sending it in tomorrow.

has this happened to anyone else on here?

Never had an omega spring break.

Both springs broke? That is the first I've heard of that.

yeah both broke. one after another...while he was flipping it. he noticed it got a lot looser, so he handed it to me to check it out. i flipped it open with the thumb stud and heard a snap...

While I do agree that the way your friend was opening the knife is not the best way, I don't see how that could result in the snapping of both omega springs. But in any case, to have both springs break is very odd....

The 527 isn't a heavy blade by any means. Strange that both sides broke, I still haven't had any failures on any of mine.

I know it's a PITA to send it up but they'll fix it for sure.

Very off indeed...I don't think I have read of anyone else snapping both although I am sure it has happened.

Tell your friend to stop flipping it when he gets it back!
