Fair enough, I don't know it was a liberal that instigated the policy, just seems consistent with my limited experience of things. As for the 4th, there was and is ample justifiable cause (you look or talk or bank like one of the gutless cowards that blew up our buildings), so no one has dumped on it.

The question here is, can a law abiding citizen have an ink pen on an airplane. And I think the real issue here is, have we become so domesticated, co-dependnt on government, and stripped of our patriotic free spirit that we are really gonna comply if the answer is no.

No one wants to have the balls to just profile the terrorists and water board their silly heads when needed, so some dumb ass bleeding heart liberal ??? lolwut??? implemented the pull the scissors and finger nail clippers from everyone in the airport in an attempt to make it look like the government was taking corrective action and protecting the public. I...never mind--more profanity is sure to ensue.

The fact that we are even asking whether it is ok to take a friggin pen on an airplane as law abiding adult citizen in a free country with a constitutional right to bear arms demonstrates a serious and growing problem with the loss of our freedoms, bravery, and American Spirit.

Turn in your finger nail clippers and ball point pens today, your balls tommorrow, and your freedoms next year.

Darko,
It sounds like you are somewhat offended by the use of the statement "dumbass bleeding heart liberals" and accordingly I am forced to assume that you are a card carrying member. If I am wrong I apologize. But the heart of the issue lies in the overwhelming and myopic belief of today's Democratic(Socialist, Marxist) party in treating my Grandmother and all other law bidding US citizens the same as the Mujahideen attempting to light his shoe on fire while screaming "Allahu Akbar". The reality is that if we would just have the courage and patriotic fortitute to delineate between law bidding US citizens and people that have wicked and evil intentions we could strengthen our constitutional rights as opposed to jeprodizing them. Unfortunately as a country we continue to allow the ACLU and the Pelosi congress to derail those rights in favor of the better good of the global community. But then again the government and more specifically the current administration was behind 9-11, right? Wink

I took a course with Micheal Janich last Fall on improvised weapons. One point he made was to avoid tactical pens and flashlights with "cheese grater" bezels. When we weaponize something, we make it a weapon, and it will be treated as such.

I assure you, you should be able to take an ink pen on a plane. However if the pen in questions has "Tactical" engraved on it, has a laser ranger finder and converts into a blow gun... Don't expect to take it on the plane.

Don't expect to take a tactical pen in a courthouse or other government building either.

When I carry an ink pen, my intention is that I will write something. If I carry an ink pen that can double as a penetrative weapon, then my intentions are called into question.

The beauty of improvised weapons is just that... They don't look like a weapon. Making an improvised weapon look more like a weapon is defeating the purpose.

When I fly, I carry a flashlight, but I make sure it does not look like a weapon. Frankly the odds of you needing a light to navigate a dark or smoky cabin are greater than fending off terrorists. Now, if I can beat the crap out of someone with my Surefire L1, well that is just a bonus we will just keep between ourselves. Smiler

That is very insightful and I agree in some ways but at the same time I know I am a good guy and I push the rules because I know the bad guys will flat out break them.

I am also always prepared to loose what ever it is that I am pushing the rules with.

WOW! You managed to go from a mildly entertaining imbecile to full blown anti-Semitic racist in one statement! Congratulations, a promotion amongst your brother “glocktalkers” is certainly forthcoming. However it looks like you lost the courage to publicly profess who you really are and edited your post. I’m not surprised. Look its real simple; if you are “not even political” then don’t take a political position. And if you do decide to venture into the foreign arena of cognitive thought, have the personal constitution to make an educated statement and stick to the point. But the reality is that guys like you can’t form your own opinion, it has to be given to you. I realize some of this may be difficult for you to follow, but don’t worry, if some of the big words are difficult, you can always search the compound and find someone with a 5th grade education to help you out. Or perhaps you can just try to clap it out. So crawl back into your hole and get on with your myopic worshiping of your Hero-Cho Seung-hui. I’ve got something for more intellectually stimulating to do, watch my grass grow. LOL!!! WUT?! NO APOLOGY OFFERED. Wink

If you need a pen in your hand luggage - put a pen in your hand luggage. If the TSA guy/gal knows it's tactical you will lose it. Don't take any chances would be my advice and put it in your checked bag.

I just got back (today) from the USA with 7 knives, in my checked luggage and a Surefire E2E in my carry on bag.
