It will probably depend on the TSA agent. Flying out of Dulles, I had one try to take away my NovaTac flashlight because the bezel "could be used as a defensiveweapon." He finally relented, but some of them are paranoid. A plain Uniball would be effective, if one had the intent.

Man, that is an expensive pen to gamble on the least friendly TSA agent.

Those stainless models are really nice looking, but I travel a lot.

Foxnews had a thing about old people being trained to use canes as defensive devices, can't wait to see Gandpa rolling down the concourse because TSA took away his cane.

I just got back from a trip and on the return flight as the passengers were getting off so we could get on I noticed a guy in his late teens with a skateboard strapped to his backpack that was his carry-on. I say if you can't take the pen you could always carry a skateboard for defense and if you're the only one who has one I bet it's quite effective.

My solution? Carry an AFCF (Advanced Folding Combat Fork Wink) with you on your travels.

Near as I can tell, (seriously) there are no restrictions to carrying one of these - and it's a tool, isn't it?

Heck, it's got four points instead of one and they'll NEVER ask you to "fork" it over! Big Grin

Whole dang thing wads my panties.

No one wants to have the balls to just profile the terrorists and water board their silly heads when needed, so some dumb ass bleeding heart liberal implemented the pull the scissors and finger nail clippers from everyone in the airport in an attempt to make it look like the government was taking corrective action and protecting the public. I...never mind--more profanity is sure to ensue.

The fact that we are even asking whether it is ok to take a friggin pen on an airplane as law abiding adult citizen in a free country with a constitutional right to bear arms demonstrates a serious and growing problem with the loss of our freedoms, bravery, and American Spirit.

Turn in your finger nail clippers and ball point pens today, your balls tommorrow, and your freedoms next year.

Agreed. Although this should go to Chit-Chat:

We stopped flying last year when my wife was removed from line in Oakland and had the entire contents of her purse and overnight bag turned inside out - all because she had a her favorite 3" diamond nail file in her bathroom kit. No amount of argueing changed the "Mall Ninja's" attitude or minds.

We lost that file and she was so embarrassed by the episode that if we have to fly, we drive. And if we can't drive, we don't go.

...So sorry guys, you're not getting the fork!!
