So a few weeks ago I posted asking for input on my first Benchmade. After considering the advice given here and looking through the product list over and over and over and ... .
I came to rest on the HK 14205. Got it in a week or so ago. I wanted a drop point and everyone here encouraged me to check out the Axis Lock. I also wanted to check out a newer steel.
My first impression was that this is a Big knife. Then looking over it, the fit and finish are superb. Pretty sharp out of the box. G10 is finished well. Liners are polished just enough. It feels very solid in hand. Pretty well balanced so it doesn't feel huge. Really liking the blade shape even though it is on the large side. I feel like this knife could take a lot more abuse than it is likely to see.
Bottom line, I like this knife. It is going to see a lot of carry time when I am out and about. I do think I am going to get something a little smaller for in the office. Probably a Mini-Presidio Ultra or Mini-Bone collector. 440 or D2 hmmmm???
Anyway, Thanks to all for the input before. You guys gave me lots of good information and helped me find a knife I am very happy with.

Congrats on the 14205 Bake, for a smaller 3" bladed knife I'd suggest looking at the HK 14210. Great knife in a smaller package, same high quality.

Congrats on new knife.

Between the ultra and the BC, I prefer the BC. It is flat ground instead of hollow, g10 scales instead of poly, and as you note D2. Also hole vs stud, not that it matters to me.

What Joe Karp said about the HK14210. !!! Arguably the best small knife in Benchmade's lineup. Congrats on the 14205... Great knife. You might not carry it much after you get the 14210. Cool

Thanks guys, almost bought the 14205 rather than the 14210. Just couldn't decide I would like the recurve blade. Probably going to go with the small Bone Collector for the reasons mentioned by Taxes although, I kinda prefer the blade shape of the Ultra.

the 14205 is a tank of a knife. One of the best folders BM makes IMHO. Good Choice.

Thanks M2, Tank is a pretty good description. It is smooth though. I like it.

14205 is an outstanding knife. It's every bit as tough as the 520.
