Thank you all for your help with me choosing my third knife! I have decided on the 14205! Before, I wasn't so much a fan of the handle but it sort of grew on me as I researched more and more. I will be ordering it tomorrow, I hope everything goes smoothly!

Hey guys!

Just an update here! I received my 14205BT in the mail yesterday but I had to ship it back to the dealer because I noticed what appears to be cracks in the coating. The cracks were like those found when there is a water leak in your ceiling and the paint starts to peel. These were on the spine and point and it wasn't acceptable to me. Luckily, the guys I ordered it from were very kind and said they would gladly exchange it. Unfortunately, they are out of stock of the 14205 so I have to wait until next week before they can ship out my replacement.

The few hours I had to handle the knife I find that it matched everything you guys had said. This definitely is smoother than my 551 or 710. I am not sure what it is but I noticed that the portion of the blade that slides against the axis bar is very shiny compared to my 710 or 551. It seems like this, the axis bar, and even the liners are all polished unlike my 710 and 551 and this might make it operate more smoothly.

I like the weight of the blade because it is very thick. This gives it even more smoothness because of its high inertia, once the blade starts moving it doesn't stop until it locks into place. It almost feels like it opens itself!

I really like the cut out at the spine of the blade where your thumb goes. Unlike the 710, this really bites into the thumb to feel very secure.

I do have very small hands so the indent for my index finger and reach to the thumb ramp does feel a tiny bit awkward but it is not too bad.

Here are some pictures I took before I had to pack it back up:

Nice comparo pics there bud. I don't have the biggest hands in the world either but with the great thumb ramp on the blade it is very comfortable and make the hand slide right into place. The blade weight is what helps the smoothness like you said. Great choice use it in good health.

Here is my only comparison pic.
