I have decided to begin the process of manufacturing some different types of barrel spacers. Since my family has owned a machine shop for the past 35 years I figured why not put them to use.. I have them working on the prototypes as we speak and I should have some samples mid next week. We will be manufacturing the spacers that fit the 710 so, any other BM knives that have the same specs will take these spacers. Initially we will be making 3 styles out of 3-4 different materials, aluminum ( black anodized), Delrin (Black), this material will require some initial testing, Stainless Steel and Brass. the 3 different styles will be

Devo (stepped)
Standard ( solid spacer )
Grooved/Notched ( standard, with a groove in the center).

I will post some pictures next week once I have the prototypes in my hands. They will be tested on my 710 for fit, finish and strength. Any input would be appreciated.. Also any knowledge of which BM knives use the same size spacers as the 710 would be helpful..

As far as the pricing goes these can range anywhere from $10-15 per set delivered. Sorry for the sticker shock but it will be easier to tell you they cost less once they are done than it will to tell you it cost more.. There is a good chance the stainless & delrin will not cost as much but again I have to test the delrin to see how well its works, if it does these could be very reasonably priced. The main reasons these may end up costing near $15 per set is because of the black anodizing (this is not cheap), this coupled with the tight tolerances require some finesse, which would explains why I cant find any black ones currently on the market.. Thanks again and please do not hesitate to share any thoughts you may have. Based on initial interest I will come up with some quantities but it would be helpful to have a better idea with your input, my initial thoughts were around 200 pieces (100 sets) mix and match..

NOW WE ARE TALKING! 15 a set is a steel if they are to speck, and ano'd... you'll have a corner on the market.

I bet the derlin will hold up great, but the uninformed will just call it plastic Wink

I'd love to see what you come up with.

Well your correct, delrin is a plastic, very strong, very dense plastic that unlike a lot of other plastics can hold tolerances.. And small pieces of finished delrin surprisingly look very similar to anodized aluminum..

I would go for a set of black aluminum with a groove for my 710M4.

Wow that sounds cool. I'll have to check my Ares to see what the gap is. I do not have a caliper that will gauge the gap though. Is there any other ways to tell? Thanks in advance.

I'm in for a grooved black aluminum set. 710 size may also fit the 806. They look identical to my eye. I'll check w/ calipers this weekend.

I am in for two sets, black anodized aluminum for 710-801. I wait to see your pictures to decide on the style. I tried to switch the ones from my 913D2 but they are bigger (probably needs a thicker handle because of the spring-assist system).

Folks thanks in advance for the interest.. If anyone has the means of measuring these or obtaining specs for other BM knives please let me know.. I cant imagine that BM uses a different size for every knife, they probably have a handful tho. Thanks
