Hello and happy new years. I'm new to these forums and I will admit I'm more of a Spyderco guy. Over the holidays I recieved a BM 558 Mini Ritter Griptilian and I'm completely blown away by it. It is absolutely amazing in all aspects with solid F&F, smooth deployment, rock solid lockup for an axis lock, and having the most gorgeous/perfect blade shape imho. My only complaint is a pivot screw that loosens a little bit faster than I'm used to but its nowhere near as bad as the two BM 940s I used to own. I just love it and it has become my favorite edc along with my Large Sebenza which is saying something. I would like to hear peoples' experiences with this knife, positive or negative. Thank you Benchmade and I look foward to trying out a few different BMs after such a pleasant experience with the 558 Big Grin.

While I don't own a 558, I do own two 552's in both M4 and S30V and I have to say they are two of my favorite folders I carry. The combination of the blade shape, S30V steel, and stonewash finish make the Ritter grips one of the best values on the market for the money IMO. Now all you need to do is track down a set of WilkinsGrips and you will have one helluva folder. Cool

Welcome to the forums.

Just curious but does Benchmade sell extra handle/clip screws and send them out or do I have to send in my knife? I accidentally stripped a screw not paying attention and I would hate to send in the entire knife.

Blue temporary hold Loctite will fix the loosening problem entirely. Some people also strongly recommed teflon plumber's tape.

The small Griptilians are nowhere near Benchmade's best designs. You need to get a 525 or 520, a large Griptilian, or a 581 Barrage.
