Just scored a NIB 630 but the scale release is a bitch to slide over. It almost seems to bind just a little. Anybody seen this? Will it "break in". Perhaps a little lapping compound and then just working it would help. Or do you just send it back to BM?

I would check for burrs ......... then put pencil lead on it and work it back n forth.
If that dont help , send it to BM .........you could try your Lapping compound , but I dont know what that is Confused

Just about all titanium framelocks are sticky when they are new. It is completely normal and just part of having a titanium locked knife. Over time it will break in and become smooth.

I guess I'll just give it a little time. DJ, Lapping compound is a fine abrasive paste used to set valves into their seats on a motor. Thanks for the comments. I think the "Lock-up" on this one is just tight.

I thought Lapping compound was something Dogs used on themselves Big Grin
Give the pencil lead a try , use it like your writeing on it , where it hits the back of the blade ..............it works great on sticky liner locks.

I have a Ti framelock Kershaw that was sticky when I got it new. The lockbar had a peak on it as mentioned and only one small part was contacting the blade, I pulled it apart and filed it with a very fine file. Just enough that they meshed as they should, works great now, smooth as can be!

I'm not completely sure if I'm reading your post correctly but the framelock bar is not supposed to be completely flush with the tang of the blade. It is indeed supposed to be angled somewhat so that not all of the bar is contacting the tang.

Correct, this one had some sort of burr or peak on it that I dont think was supposed to be there. I did not make them line up completely, just so it was easier to disengage.

Ah okay I see what you're talking about now. I've never had a burred framelock before but it certainly seems like something that would make for rough disengagement.
