It's fine. As mentioned, it's an earlier model. They threaded the screws directly into the G-10, which did result in stripped out holes, since the G-10 didn't always hold threading very well. If you sent the knife into BM for service, they would upgrade the screw setup under warranty. I have several 970's and they are both styles since some have been in for upgrade, some haven't. The lockup is also very good on that one!
