@Jim, exactly. One handed operation is one of the many reasons I like AXIS locks, and one of the many reasons I don't like assisted mechanisms.

Don't discount assists for that reason-- you can always remove the assist, as I did w/ my Warn tanto, and be left w/ a std Axis lock/operation--

If I had to choose between an AO design I liked or a manual mechanism with a design I didn't like I might do that, but I'd still be a little miffed about paying for the more complicated mechanism just to rip it out, as well as the warranty implications of disassembling the knife.

I'm glad that most of BM's designs that I like anyway are unassisted. =)
