I think the best thing to do is not poke fun at people's auctions, regardless of their status here on the forums. Ebay is capitalistic wonderland. Get what you can for what you got.

Zac, I'm sorry if you found my comment offensive. I didn't mean it in that light. regardless of who the seller might have been. If you think it's possible to move it at that price, by all means - more power to you! It'll just show how much I know Smiler Hell, stranger things happen every day!!! Smiler But I did find it a bit unrealistic.

Zac,

You have excellent eBay FB! ... and apparently a nice eBay business. You don't owe anyone any excuses, apologies or explanations. (I hope I'm not out of line saying this). But you're still young, and life hasn't dealt you the greatest hand. OK. So... I once met a man with no shoes, and felt bad, until I met a man with no feet. Until... ? And you? So you have some issues and it's not my intent to minimize them at all.

I haven't had the greatest luck in life either,(though I'm making no comparisons) but I try to count my blessings. My life could also be better but I always try to remember it could be far, far worse. I empathize with you. That doesn't really help though, so here's something that might...

There's this great little book written by Don Miguel Ruiz called "The Four Agreements", you can find it online if you're interested. I'd recommend it to anyone. It's a very short read but it's powerful and insightful. Almost everyone could benefit from the advice and basically it condenses down to this:

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word.
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don't Take Anything Personally.
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don't Make Assumptions.
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best.
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

I don't mean to come-off as some preachy know-it-all. I'm just trying to pass along something I think is helpful.

Best,
Rob

A big +1 Rob: I've read the book and these four agreements can change one's life. Thanks for sharing the words, great way to close down a busy Friday.

First off let me say that I haven't dealt with anyone here on this forum that wasn't a good guy. We all have our differences and believe me that's a good thing.

I personally have never understood the hard feelings torwards eBay sales. I have sold knives many ways over the years, eBay, forums and in person. Just depends on the situation.

Consider this though, eBay is a huge community, known by most all. Our forum is a much smaller, specialized community. I just joined several months ago and I've been in the knife world for a very long time.

Some people don't have the time or savy to be a part of our community. Some people have money to burn and would rather just go to eBay and buy what they want when they want. I think those people deserve the opportunities as much as we do (almost as much Smiler).

I try not to have any ill feelings torwards eBay auctions or their listers as long as the information is clear and accurate.

BTW, I list on eBay and in every forum I participate as "joker354". You are welcome to contact me privately at any time.

Eric.

I wholeheartedly agree. One of forum regulars, I've dealt with many times in the past and would deal again without any hesitation, used to flip knives between forum and ebay all the time.
To have an ability to fund a rather expensive hobby by following the market. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. In fact I envy those who can manage to so in an organized manner. And frankly that profit is, most likely, not sufficient enough, if you take into consideration all the expenses and the time it takes to track those deals, broker them, ship them, etc
And, of course, some knives that sell much better as an auction lot, and others that may get no attention on the bay, but will be gone on the forum in a heart beat.

Think of it this way...

Selling on eBay allows him to free up some cash to buy your stuff you have listed on the forums.

Dude, I'm actually one of those who have no problem with others making money. The way I see it, everyone has an equal chance to profit on a moneymaking opportunity. Some take that chance, others don't, or just late to the party. Later you start hearing complaints: it's not fair, this is a rip off, etc
Hey, you snooze - you loose. In the end it all comes down to making a choice and taking an action, once or twice.
1) Do you want it or not?
2) If you want it, are you willing to shell out the mulla?
Everything else is just lirics around the the subject.
