Typically, forum knives generate a lot of interest by folks who are not part of the forum in question...

Since this is a very "public forum" it will be hard to contain this, however we all agree that actual forum members should at least have the ability to buy the knife, before the rest are snatched up by the public.

Do we have any ideas on how this could be slowed or stopped? Maybe there are some plans in the works, and I missed it. If not, what are some ideas that we can make sure the forum knife goes to forum members.

One suggestion is that we PM one member who makes a distribution list (either e-mail or PM) and only folks on that list get notified before the public, that the knives are for sale. If one dealer (as it sounds) will be handling this, then they can place orders before it is publicly listed. All members must agree to abide that the communication is not for public consumption, and the dealer does not list the item on the webpage. If there is left overs, then by all means they can do so.

Any other thoughts?

Some folks like Roger intentionally avoid the forum. If the dealer in question doesn't mind performing some forum activity, then it gets a lot easier. He can confirm user registration dates via posts in a thread, communicate with buyers via PM, etc.

In short, sure there are ways. Smiler

MCM has a plan for this...it just hasn't started to be carried out yet. But yes, that is essentially the plan.

Your comments are good ones Mark. I think the idea of a specific PM path, knowing who our distributor will most likely be, and absolutely not publish the product on their website is all key to the success of this project.

It sounds like MCM is doing a terrific job of tracking the flow of things, and so far as a result looks like this will actually happen.

The most important next step, IMO, is creating that PM/email channel before anything gets out of hand.

...and yes, a little patience too.

i also think that limite a very low number of knife per person would avoid some disagreement and would permit to share to a wilder number of forumers ...

I was wondering the same thing, how can I make sure that I get one, and who do I order it from?

That would work. I think a limit is a good idea too.

sounds good. I kind of think there should be a reasonable limit as well.

Limit to one or more?

Personally, I'm probably in for one to carry and one to keep put up. If it winds up being the only model I really don't care for in Benchmade's whole folder lineup, then just a single one would be fine.

I absolutely want to partake in the forum knife, but hope the option of getting a pair would be open if numbers permit it.
