I like mine and have no plans of getting rid of it, can a smaller knife do what this bad boy can do? sure, so what, there is a place in the knife world for big ass knives, I am surprized that hunters, campers, outdoorsmen did not comment on the (possible) usefulness of this knife.

As soon as the announcement of the 810 was out, so were both the 275's I bought. Looking at the stats, I think the 810 is going to be the knife for me. Basically same price, same deep carry, almost the same blade thickness with a thinner handle, longer blade and better steel. Sorry Adamas, I may be back, but it's going to be tough to beat the Contego.

Just saw another 275BK sold on another forum for under the average going price...Here was what they said.

I just got this folder a few days ago. It is the best specimen of a Benchmade I have ever seen. Centered blade, silky smooth, Rock solid lock-up and over all amazing fit and finish (always been an issue with me when it comes to BM products). I really love this knife but it is just a tad too big for me. So I am letting it go.

Guess size matters

It's not the only thing that matters, but of course it matters. Smiler

I think it has to do with size and weight more than anything else. But I like big and heavy so I'm keeping mine!

I think it looks pretty nice, and the folks I've shown it too have been impressed with it.

Since I am a hunter, camper, outdoorsmen I will comment.

I look at the 275 and think, I would rather carry a fixed blade.

In general, I've often wondered why hikers/campers/etc. don't prefer fixed blades more generally. They've fewer parts to fail, fewer nooks and crannies to get gunk and debris in, etc. Sure they have a bigger largest dimension, but it's easy (and arguably preferable) to strap an external sheath to your pack or clothing.

Perhaps it comes down to laws and regulations frowning more upon fixed blades than manual folders.

I had always wanted a larger 940ish knife with no AL handles so like B-Man308, when I saw the 810 photos I felt it was better for me. I may still get the limited Black 275..its a nice sized knife.

I remember seeing a similar situation when the 755 MPR first came out. Lots of people rushed out and bought one and then when they got a chance to handle it they found out it was a tank of a folder and perhaps more hard use and not as easy an EDC.
