I have a 710sbt with the original ATS-34 blade, but I have really grown to dislike the serrations. I'm thinking of sending it back to BM to have them swap the blade for a satin PE, but I'm not sure which one to get.

If they have any ATS-34 or 154CM PE blades left, should I get one of those, or the D2 blade? Did they ever make the 710 with a S30V blade (that's the one I'd get if they did)?

You'd get a plain edge (Current blade steel) D2 for $25 + $5 return shipping, total of $30.00. Not a bad deal at all!

I'd prefer the D2.

Why the 154CM over the D2? I don't know enough about the D2 to know why I would pick one over the other if I have a choice.

For one thing D2 is the current production steel, but you might get lucky and find a 154cm blade in their backstock. Miracles do happen...

D2 takes a great polish and a toothy edge but is a bear to sharpen. 154cm is a lot easier to work with, but as said above might be a problem to find for a 710.
