I use lanyards, though on my folders they are generally for looks (I let the ends of the colored cord fray out) and as a means to grab a knife out of my pocket. Those are a bit big for my tastes for use on a pocket knife, though maybe on a large fixed blade knife I would use one like those.

My personal opinion is there no good , Iam sure they have there uses though. If your walking through brush or bushes , its just something for the knife to snag on and pull it out of your pocket and possibly lose the knife. They look kool , but thats about it ..........dj -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contempt Prior to Investigation - Dont knock it till you,ve tried it. i have box lanyards (w/ tridium skulls) on my bradley, 710 and 615. i like lanyards because to me they look classy, makes grabbing knives easier, and shows that you are not hiding a weapon but a respectable tool. many times i put my lanyards on new folders so that my friends will ask me about it because it (the lanyard) grabs their attention and i can show off my new toy (and ill be honest that is one of my fav things). Sometimes a lanyard doesnt work well with certain knives. Boomerangs 'n Butterflies: An Osborne Alliance | Member #3

I've tried lanyards and found the only good use is with a fixed blade, but you make a good point...you can see the lanyard, it does invite comments and often allows show off time. I think that's one way to get folks involved in knife collecting. Only thing I use them for is on fixed blades really. Specifically larger ones and when using them to baton wood or the like. Love the King Cobra stitch though! I made one as a bracelet and it was too big so I went to just a regular Cobra stitch bracelet. The Cobra stitch or Soloman bar and regular box knot are some of my favs to tie. --------------------------- "We are going to fight them fairly, and with honor...and my idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby harp seals!" -LtCol McCoy , USMC

Only on my Sebenza. Now that it's gone the few remaining were born without 'em and that's how they'll stay. Lanyard's are OK if you like what they look like or find 'em useful.
