I'm teaching my 9y.o. son how to make one for his mini-Grip. It will have a clasp on the end to clip to his belt loop so he doesn't loose it when he's camping with his cub scout den.

I experimented using one for awhile, but I thought it was kinda pointless because I use my pocket clip. I could see definite advantages if you let the knife ride in your pocket tho.

Someone on this forum mentioned that a lanyard will help a mini-grip feel like a bigger knife in your hand. I tried it and that was the only way I could stand to use the mini.

I use lanyards on allot of my knives. It makes it easier for me to grab the knife especially when I have gloves on. Also I use then for hooking tethers.

I like a lanyard on fixed blades so I can do two things:

1. Have an extra 10' of real cord if needed.

2. It can thicken up the grip if you gotta' get choppin with your knife.

I have one little one on an 800s that I am using until I get a pocket clip worked out. Leaving just enough out of the pocket to grab the knife is all you need.
