+1 It sounds logical to me. The knife could be anything and you wouldn't want false numbers. Wait and see what it will be and you will get dependable commitments.

Agree with all prior posters. I am looking forward to participating in this group buy, but I cannot truly commit to something that's entirely up in the air.

So here's what happens if you make the signup thread now:

1) People don't want to get left out, so they sign up anyway. The signups are useless because there are some who will eventually drop out because the specs don't appeal to them.

2) People don't want to commit to something they know nothing about, so they don't sign up. The signups are useless because there's a lot of interest that's not represented.

You could argue that the two might cancel themselves out and that the overall NUMBER of interested parties will be in the ballpark, but we already have the polls for that. The list of NAMES of specific individuals is going to be near worthless until some real concrete information about model/specs/materials is made available.

When I posted this last night, we were moments away from it being a "Benchmade will surprise us". Seems that moment has morphed.
