I believe the primary steel KA uses for his folders is S30V and are heat treated by Paul Bos. I know he has made some models with damascus blades. BTW he makes some wicked folders and fixed blades. I would love to own one of his folders or fixed blades one day.. Couldn't help myself this morning and into my pocket went my new John W. Smith SD-3......all 10.5" of it, course it was closed in my pocket! He makes one of the smoothest folders I've ever handled! 520A. It went with me yesterday to Elk Creek for some pheasant/quail hunting and a round of sporting clays after a sumptuios lun h. As always it carried beautifully and did a fine job of cleaning the birds. | |||

I'll Answer for Doug. Probably S30V. They are a beast of a folder with a hella cool blade shape. Not big in the length dept. but big in the beefy dept. I have one of these on order!
