I'm looking at purchasing a 6150 and I am wondering if anyone can inform me how fast it opens. Also any other comments (good or bad) about the quality knife. I'm a police officer and I'm looking to use it for duty use (emergency backup and utility). Thanks.

I like the shape of the mini rukus. They have the best handle that BM has in production. Very ergonomic. They ride nice in the pocket with the low rider pocket clip. The blade is strong and a very good slicer being a high grind. The shape is great for utility. The Axis auto is as fast as any button auto out there. If I had one complaint on the 615 it would be that the clip is a little weaker than standard BM clips. That being said, I have owned 2 mini's and 2 full sized rukus's and never hand a clip break or bend. Hope that helps and welcome to the forum.

Welcome BillyJack- thanks for being LEO!

I have a 6150... and I must say I LOVE IT! Even though I can't carry it legally here in Colorado, I can when I visit my wifes family back in Iowa. So, it sits in my tool box for when I am working in my workshop/garage. I love the auto, although I have found you can manually deploy any BM just as fast if not faster than the auto, but mine fires HARD, even after 1000's of cycles. (Did I mention they are fun to play with?)

As for the knife itself, my next knife WILL be a 615bk... I love knife and I want to be able to carry it. There isn't a more ergo, robust knife for duty in the line up from BM.

You won't be sorry... but you will be hooked on BM's Wink

Hello billyjack, welcome !!! The 6150 is a great auto axis !!! The firing power is pretty good and it does fire rather hard !!! The sateen blades open a little faster than the BK coated ones, less friction on the opeing of it. Also, if you havent tried out a limited edition shot show rukus you are missing out !!! That sucker fires harder than the auto and its assisted opeing. I have a few of them and love em !!!! I have had every type of mini rukus at some point or another and i am a huge rukus fan !!!! Now all i need it BM to make a gold class one and ill be set !!!

Welcome BillyJack.

I don't know if you've ever considered carrying 2 separate knives, one for emergency backup and one for utility purposes. The only reason I would make this suggestion is because if you ever needed a knife for an emergency backup, you don't want it to be dull or compromised from using it as a utility knife. I would recommend a push dagger for a backup. I have seen a lot of local LEOs carry push daggers for their emergency backups because they fit securely in the hand and are designed for the specific reason.

I just wanted to put that out there. Thank you for your efforts in serving the community.

Thanks for the info. I'm debating between the 6150 and the 9051. Or I might just get both!!! Do you guys have any info on the 9051?

Hey guys. I went with the 9051. And let me tell you, what an awesome knife!!! The quality of this knife is unbelievable. I also like the fact it came with a nylon holster, so I can attach it to my duty belt. I'm not going to rule out the 6150 though, I'm going to get that too!! Thanks for your opinions. And Chang, I'm also going to get the 175BK as a last ditch backup weapon. I would like to put it in my boot, if possible, but I will have to see and try it out. Thanks for the idea.
