While "window shopping" on the Bay, I came across someone selling an 806-701 for twelve hundred dollars! Could this be for real? Don't get me wrong, I only carry Benchmade knives and I don't mind paying for quality, but $1200? I almost fell out of my chair. What did these knives go for originally?

I believe you are correct with the price dj. I guess if someone is willing to pay for it, more power to James Marsh. Smiler

Yea, James is a good guy so cut him some slack Smiler

He does have some limited edition knives he sell from Benchmade and other makers, and he does put them up there pretty high for the limiteds. However make him an offer you never know...

If you remember, these sold for a bit under $400 when new... But prices did go up rather high after that.

I have bought one knife from him. He seemed like a good guy.

I don't like the price so I don't buy it. I don't like the price on ferraris so....
I don't know about any of you but if someone wanted to buy all my 710s for $5000 I would have no problem selling.

Could we also get a 630 with an axis lock?

James is a good guy. He sells knives at the price he thinks he can sell knives. If you offer a price to him all he can say is no. I have personally seen one of those with a BK blade go for $900 +

Ok, now I feel like a bit of a tool. In my utter amazement at the thought of asking for, or paying $1200 for a pocketknife, I did not recognize the sellers name. I guess it really has been a while since I've frequented the forum. I actually did have a dealing with James Marsh before and I remember him being a nice guy. If someone is willing to spend that much cash on a tool, good for him.

No need to feel like a tool.. Your gut instinct was right.. Its an outlandish price... Nice guy or not.. But as long as someone is willing to pay the price for it, so be it, thats Capitalism.

However I have noticed that knife on the bay for quite some time now Big Grin.

It's a store item.
And if you followed the other ones James had for sale earlier they all went to new homes at prices quoted by the seller. IIRC the last one sold for $950. And I suspect that the same fate awaits the one in question.
I just don't get some ebay buyers. OK in this case it's an LE and one in high demand, so at some level it's kinda justified. But when people who are supposedly bargain shopping are buying $110 710's for over $200+shipping, and there's enough of those at the bay to score a good deal, then it's really amusing. Puzzling, yes. But still amusing. Smiler

It's capitalism and more money for him to buy other knives, do other activities or make a living. If he can sell it for a big profit, more power to him. It's a badass knife and not many are available. With that said, I've wondered what would happen to their value with the new AFCKs in M4. I don't know the seller too well on a personal level but I have purchased from him before and I can vouch first hand that he delivers grade A service.
