| "Steel Snob M-4" |
I just recieved my 710-1 in the mail today ...... Everything is fine ....centered , fit , finish etc. etc. .........EXCEPT Its suppose to be DLC coated and it doesnt look that way to me. The coating on the Ritters was glossy lookin , and smooth (slick so to speak) but this is rough ALMOST like BK coating. Either way it looks more like the 710 M-4 than the Ritter M-4 coating. Anyone else feel this way ..... or am I just imagineing it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contempt Prior to Investigation - Dont knock it till you,ve tried it. My thoughts exactly! I thought they made a mistake when I saw it. PM sent also. ---------------- 705, Don't leave home without it! Member: Gentleman Society for the Preservation of the 960 Innova -- Pardue Pimp #4

Ritters have stonewashed finish. Even DLC coated ones. That's why those M4 Grips feel so smooth. I have few Kershaws with "normal" DLC blades and it's rather rough and touch stuff. ____________________________ Knock, knock. "Who's there?" "Me!" "Me? No way it's me. I'm right here!" Isnt that the sh*ts ...... I was disapointed to say the least ..... However I can live with it ....... I think its just because I was expecting the high gloss .... Thanks to those who inputted and set me straight on this ....... Either way I like the matte lookin finish better than the rougher BK. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contempt Prior to Investigation - Dont knock it till you,ve tried it. So is the coating more like the Zt 0301 than the M4 Riter? DJ have you tried it out on cardboard yet?

The M4 Ritter Stonewash DLC was a 1st for me. Microtech offered Black DLC stonewash on a few knifes like the Microtech Amphibian using 154CM about 10 yrs ago, but it had a stronger Stonewashed look. The Ritter DLC is more black transparent to me. Not very stonewashed / tumbled. DLC is used on many things, from firearms to tools etc. The funny thing is M390 is said to be almost SS. So, rust should not be an issue. Also looking forward to see how this DLC coated clip fairs / wears. S90v Please......

Mark, M390 is absolutely SS, more so than S90V, it only has 1.9% C and as much as 20% Cr. Basically, it is Duratech 20CV with an Austrian accent.
