I don't really know how to change the mind of somebody who doesn't like AFCK... I think it is a knife you have to use to get to know. It really is an extraordinary cutting tool. The clip-point blade is perfect for just about everything. It has a fair amount of belly for efficient slicing, good sharp point, grinds are good. The handle is super ergonomic for virtually any sort of use. It's only draw back has been the flat handle scales, but that doesn't apply to these LEs. The hole opener is the best solution short of an assisted flipper, to thumb studs to hang up on stuff or rust.

I bought my first AFCK back in 1996 or so, just because I liked knives and I'd never seen anything like it. I was still helping my dad out on his fishing boat at the time, and I used the crap out of that first knife working on crab gear and virtually everything else on the boat. If I had to pick a hard work knife today, it would probably be a 520, but one of these LEs may change my mind about that.

I know the surface image of the AFCK is as a "tactical" folder, but my primary experience with it has been as a truly extreme use utility knife, and it really shined. The design characteristics that most of the advertising hyped as "tactical" are actually just as important for a hard use tool. The angle of the blade to the handle increases cutting efficiency when cutting hard, the finger cutout makes the grip really secure. You can turn it around and upside down and it still works. The AFCK is not what I think of when I think of a "mostly offensive" knife at all. That would be a folding dagger for me.

FWIW, my 800 AFCK is one of my favorite kitchen slicers. The blade is weighted towards the tip and that brings excellent balance in dispatching celery, chicken and carrots.

I would call these more 'practical' than 'tactical.' Smiler

That was a good summary of experience with one Po.

...its getting close to September. Smiler

__________________________________________

This is my AFCK. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my AFCK is useless. Without my AFCK, I am useless.

I must use my AFCK true. I must stab straighter than the enemy who is trying to kill me. I must stab him before he shoots me. I will. My AFCK and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit.

My AFCK is human, even as I am human, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories, its blade and its grip. I will keep my AFCK clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other.

Before God I swear this creed. My AFCK and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy.

For those of you who have pre-ordered the BM806-1101 and BM806BK-1101 KnifeWorks exclusive, we want to give you an update on their production status. Due to issues in production these models have been unexpectedly delayed. Benchmade is now working diligently with this issue, the 1st week of September is projected approximate date at this time. When additional information is available, we will provide an update with a projected availability date.

Well... next week is the 1st week in September, so I fully expect to hear something from KW one way or the other. I wonder if they will all actually arrive at KW next week for delivery inspection, of if they will trickle in slowly in batches over the next several weeks. Most importantly, does the 1st week in September have anything to do with delivery to the consumer, or just a date when Benchmade said they will be finished assembling, yet still need to be inspected by BM, shipped to KW, reviewed by KW, final billing processed, etc... shipping much later in the month. Since I still haven't been completely billed, nor have I received any correspondence, I'm guessing there won't be a couple of new AFCKs in my pocket next weekend. Anyhow know anything new?

I talked to one of the girls earlier this week. The first week of September is what Benchmade gave them. They have no recourse and can only share with us the date they were given. Here's to hoping it works out soon. I am full-paid up on all three of mine.

I am still predicting we will see these being shipped by the 9th. I am staying optimistic. I think its fair to assume that when these get to KW they will start shipping immediately. Especially to those paid in full for months.
I am just keeping an eye on this thread or another not yet created called . We Are There!

Oh Yea that will put a smile on some peoples faces. These are going to be awesome.

timmy, I asked.. they confirmed that they knew what number I requested. They don't even have the knives in hand yet so they clearly couldn't confirm a number. When it comes down to it, I want what I ordered regardless of a serial number. I'd love to get "my" number, but I can't imagine complaining unless I don't get the right model Razzer

(I ordered and requested my number in each case within a couple hours of the knives being listed on the site. I'd be surprised if somebody picked my number before I did since I didn't ask for a single digit, but *shrug* it could certainly happen.)
