I'm having a brain fart here, I'll throw it out there.

What's your favorite Benchmade "Slicer".

90% of the time, I use my EDC for food prep, light box butchering, and yes, opening mail.

Most of these tasks are best suited to a thinner, full flat ground style blade IMO.

No matter the "cool factor", it sucks cutting vegetables with a 5mm thick blade, sorry. It may help with prying open the rib-cage of a zombie to obtain the Ring of Balthistar, but sucks balls when want to cut a grape...just sayin' Wink

[I have one in mind, which was talked about this morning, but I'm brain farting, it's the only one off the top of my head.]

I expect nothing from anyone. I am entitled to nothing tangible. I am an American Original.

I'm looking to buy specific Red, Blue, Black, & Green 940 variants. PM me! Big Grin

I don't have a Ritter, so my 740/745 is my choice for a folder.

My favorite slicer - indeed, my favorite all-around BM folder is the 950 Rift. It always feels great in the hand, and it slices and skins really well.

However, the ones that slice best are hollow grinds. And, in that case, my favorite is the much-despised 10100 LFK (Long Frickin' Knife!) Most flat grinds tend to "hug" both sides of the material you're slicing, whereas hollow ground blades tend to separate them. Try slicing into some Velveeta and you'll see what I mean.

That model has been discontinued, presumably for lack of interest. A lot of people don't like it because it was made in Taiwan, and therefore, not a "real Benchmade." Also, the (IMO) cool "tail guard" was always looked upon as kind of sketchy, and a gimmick. But I love the darned thing! And a folder with a blade over 5" with a pocket clip? Man, most people would think it ludicrous, but the design makes it very light, relatively compact and easily carried.

Original list price was $100, but I found mine online with one screw missing, supposedly from the factory for $40. One quick call to Benchmade and they sent me a full set of replacement screws, so mine is factory perfect again Big Grin

The good news is, for those who feel they missed out, they apparently have some leftovers that have been released as a 13220 *Dealer Exclusive*
