I keep a Crawford "Leopard" in the kitchen for duty as a paring knife. Works well.

Probs the 960, the thin blade really works it magic at slicing. Boomerangs 'n Butterflies: An Osborne Alliance | Member #960

It's going to be hard to beat the little Bone Collector Skinner fixed blade for a slicer. Very nice knife that is perfect for everything from big game processing to kitchen duty!

for me, slicing depends on few things: - the blade shape ... and here i would say too the large flat grounds on the ritter or dejavoo are great - the blade steel : i can obtain a better edge with some steel than others . my 710 with m390 is a razor for exemple ... - when your blade had been sharpen: my favorite slicer is the last knife i sharpened Charter Member #5, Lum Lunatics Boomerangs 'n Butterflies: An Osborne Alliance | Member #6

I guess my newest, the 950 Rift, may just be my best slicer. I'm thinking ahead... that little (15" edge!) 171 may just be the ideal slicer, albeit on a larger scale... like a watermellon instead of a grape. My only fb is a 201... that 171 would make a nice addition... I know, too much caffein.
