Hmm...I tried that before I posted this. Didn't work well enough. Very slow going. Was using a cheaper version of scotch brite along with Comet. Any other suggestions?

wet/dry sandpaper. Start with 220 or 320 and go up from there, to maybe 1000 depending on how bright you want the finish.

That sounds coarse. 220/320? Have you done this before? I kinda figured it'd come down to wet sandpaper.

320's a good place to start, move to 600, then 800, then 1000. As for a liquid 'enhancer', Brasso works pretty well. Wear protective gear and work in either lots of fresh air or a respirator if working with Brasso, it can irritate both skin and lungs. 350, 520, 525BK-1101, 530, 580-1102, 580 Proto, 583-1, 585-1, 710-1, 710-2, 710D2, 710HS, 722, 732, 740, 740 Proto, 741, 745, 746, 746-1201, 750, 790, 800, 800HS, 805-1101, 810, 812, 830, 831, 835HS, 840, 845, 890, 905, 907D2, 910, 910SCG, 912D2, 913D2, 12400 Proto, 12410, 14205, 14210, 40022-100. Hi Joe. I see you're in WC. I'm in Dublin. I'll give it a go tomorrow. Not sure I want to get it down to 1000, though that would probably help protect the D2. How long do you think the process will take? Couple hours? One hour?

Hi KEB, Dublin's got a Fuddrucker's restaurant we local Benchmade fans go to from time to time...last get together was a lot of fun. On time, depends on how firmly the BK coating's fixed to the D2 blade...could be a number of hours and I strongly suggest pulling the blade out of the frame...tech trick #32: pull back the axis lock and stick a toothpick through both sides so the mechanism's locked open. Unscrew the pivot with a T-10 Torx and pop the opposing pin out, then slide the blade out. With enough patience the coating will come off...here's an example of my 710D2 after about 10 hours: So it can be done, just takes time and patience. 350, 520, 525BK-1101, 530, 580-1102, 580 Proto, 583-1, 585-1, 710-1, 710-2, 710D2, 710HS, 722, 732, 740, 740 Proto, 741, 745, 746, 746-1201, 750, 790, 800, 800HS, 805-1101, 810, 812, 830, 831, 835HS, 840, 845, 890, 905, 907D2, 910, 910SCG, 912D2, 913D2, 12400 Proto, 12410, 14205, 14210, 40022-100. Just took some pics of the blade. Here they are. This is a new knife. Was working in the yard today and stuck the blade into the grass a few times. Not sure if I want to even go through the process of taking it all off. I like the logo and other markings. What'dya think? Leave it or strip it? Oh, and tech trick #32 is excellent. Thanks! This message has been edited. Last edited by: K.E.B.,

Up to you. Leave it as is and use the heck out of it, strip it down like mine is...Benchmade just made an offer to re-logo stock blades as another option, and for $30 you could send the knife to the factory and they'd put a satin D2 blade in exchange for yours. Sounds like there's no way that you could lose here! 350, 520, 525BK-1101, 530, 580-1102, 580 Proto, 583-1, 585-1, 710-1, 710-2, 710D2, 710HS, 722, 732, 740, 740 Proto, 741, 745, 746, 746-1201, 750, 790, 800, 800HS, 805-1101, 810, 812, 830, 831, 835HS, 840, 845, 890, 905, 907D2, 910, 910SCG, 912D2, 913D2, 12400 Proto, 12410, 14205, 14210, 40022-100.
