I've got a question for you guys and gal. Wink It seems like lots of forumites use LifeSharp, and quite a few use a SharpMaker to sharpen their knives. And then there's what seems to be a small Edge Pro crowd.

I thought it might be interesting to see what kind of response this poll gets.

So:

Question:
How do you sharpen your knives?

Choices:
LifeSharp
Edge Pro
Whetstone of some type
a portable field sharpener
A combination of above
None of the above. My knives are all safequeens.

Stone, nothing more relaxing than hearing the sound of a good blade on stone.

I think I will go sharpen some knives now. Big Grin

You forgot powered sharpeners, paper wheels, belt grinders. Big Grin

I love the EP, I never got very good on stones, probably due to using those small hand held ones and not proper bench stones.

Nothing like getting a super thin chefs knife from "won't cut paper" to hair topping sharp in a few minutes. That's my definition of stupid sharp.

Blade geometry makes a huge difference for sharpening as well, I absolutely love thin flat grinds with good steel, very easy to sharpen up, the thicker the blade just means more metal removal.

That's funny, 'cuz I thought about paper wheels but thought there might already be too many options. I wasn't sure how large the paper wheels contingent was either.

I really am interested to see some numbers.

I've been using paper wheels the last few years and love them.
