It didn't take that long to actually ship. That seems to have been the total time from the idea to creation to shipping.

I think I ordered mine on 7 Dec, was charged on 13 Dec, and it was shipped on 20 Dec. I still have the receipt and invoice in the box!

Yea, I noticed that after I read that forum archive. Once it was ready, everybody got them pretty fast. I also saw right after the first of the year, a couple of weeks later, the unclaimed knives were put up for sale. So BM tried to wrap it up pretty quick.
