Trying to get my Rift opening as quickly as possible. I think I should take it apart, soak it in the Blue Cleaner, then Blu Lube it as I put it back together . Is that the best way?

Also, the AXIS lock seems to be the MAIN thing applying DRAG to this knife. I mean I can actually feel the grind of the AXIS pin on the Blade. Any Recommendations on that?

I have my rift apart. The washers are out, the pivot screw and blade. I cleaned the parts and everything with the benchmade product really good, and am trying to put it back together. Any tips for this/ Im struggling getting everything to line up properly while i put the pivot back through

Put a match stick in the axis hole to hold the lock back. This will help you immensely.

On a side note, you need to learn to use the forum search and start combining threads man. I don't want to come off as a dick but its pretty annoying to see 6 new threads pop up in a 4 hour span which

a) could be combined into one or

b) could be answered by either searching the forum of looking at BM's website.

I realize you are new to BM and enthusiastic but its bad form on any internet forum to start new threads on a whim. Maybe not one or two but 6 is out of hand man!! I mean no disrespect to you but its honestly pretty annoying.

BM's website doesnt say which designers are current, or which models were designed by who..... as for the different threads, yeah you got a point. As for the advice, thank you. And yeah, that was the way you came off. See if I saw something you did, Id send you a P.M. and explain it, no problem. But you Blast me on the forum, so yeah, you come off as a Dick. Im not saying your point wasnt valid, because it was, I see that. It wont happen again. If I could erase them I would.

I do sincerely apologise if I offended you, I did not mean to, merely stating my opinion (which is far from right or final or inclucive of the board as a whole).

I guess I just was in a snappy mood. Again, apologies. I am glad you joined the fourm, new members and new view points are always welcomed.

Yeah, you have to forgive those Canadians. The cold kind of does things to them over time... Wink

As for your knife not opening well at first, did you try adjusting the tension before disassembling the knife? That usually does it for mine. I haven't taken my mini-Grip apart, but it opens and closes with very little friction since I adjusted the pivot screw. That's what it's there for.

I wish I could give props where props are due but I honestly can't remember who wrote it but if you back-off / adjust the screw that keeps the a$$-end closed, it can help. If that is too tight, it can do some funky stuff to the other end.

As for disassembly and assembly of an Axis Lock, here is a reference vid for future people who stumble across this thread (and it's from someone most of us know Wink)

I'll tag on the usual advice for getting a knife working smoothly:

Play with it.

That's it. No real need to take it apart or anything. Just open and close it a lot. Sometimes a little graphite can help with things like the Axis bar. Graphite is most easily applied in these cases by rubbing a pencil point over the area.

A little BlueLube or Militec definitely helps things smooth out, but cycling the knife open / closed is the real key. Pretty much all of the other 'make it smoother' techniques are just ways to try and smooth the bits that will naturally smooth over time.
