At first glance really tight lock up doesn't sound bad but...
My buddy just bought his first benchmade the 530. The knife is really cool and i actually like it but the axis lock is like know other i have dealt with or played with. When you open it hard/ swiftly/ with force the axis gets stuck in the open locked position. It takes a lot of force just to close it. I know it's new but it does not seem to be the spring, but rather a lot of pressure from the tang on the axis that does not allow to unwedge easily. Any similar experiences or any fix ideas? Possible problem warranting sending it back to bench made? Thanks for the help, Motherfresh ~~~If only my depleting wallet could support my growing love of knives.~~~ |

I've had a few do that. Time amd a bunch of flicking has cured all issues..

A drop of lube on the Axis bar may help.
A new Axis can take a few cycles to break in. ---------------------- 5,737,841 6,574,869 |

Perhaps a sign to ease off on the opening force.
Although, I have had this happen...but I don't really forcefully open my knives at all so I can't speak to the frequency. I agree with Stephen try a little dab of lube. Boomerangs 'n Butterflies: An Osborne Alliance | Member #960 |

I would add a drop of Militec oil between the axis lock and the blade ramp then use a hairdryer to heat up the Militec so it works into the metal.
