Am curious: Has anyone here ever looked at their collection and thought "you know, I'm happy with the knives I have, and just want to enjoy using and carrying them for a while"? I guess what brought this on was when I realized my 710-801 with the latest, greatest CPM-M4 has been sitting on a shelf, begging to be carried and used- knives like this don't deserve to sit unused! I don't have many knives (compared to some), but have a decent collection of select knives from a variety of manufacturers (and a few customs). I think maybe it's time to just enjoy them a while.

Anyone else ever reach that point?

I suppose you could say I'm at that point. It might just be because my bank account hasn't caught up with my wishlist though. Wink

Although, with my funds being limited, I have been able to take a step back and look at my collection and realize that I'm quite content with it. Sure there are other models that I want, but, for now, I'm able to rationalize that there is not much more the knives can do that I want than the ones that I already have.

After some reflecting time, I have decided the next major purchase I make will be an EdgePro Apex. What good is a knife collection if I can't have them at their sharpest? Smiler

Quick answer is no.

I want a knife I saw on this forum. But it's not for sale. So I'm told. Wink

No enthusiast / hobbyist / collector is ever satisfied, that is... unless they run out of enthusiasm or $$$. (jmo - but it's really a fact).

Cool

There was a gentleman came in the store where I work, and he told me he could tell me exactly how many knives every man needs.

I said, "Ok, I'll bite, how many."

His response: "One more then he currently has."

I believe that is true, at least in my case.

You know, that is an item I have thought about several times and never pulled the trigger on.

Maybe that's where I am. There are $$$ available, it's the pragmatic side of me that says enough- use the ones you have! ...at least, for now Smiler
The enthusiasm will likely always be there, I've always liked knives and probably always will. It is fun to give a decent knife to someone who hasn't "seen the light" so to speak.

Too funny,
Smiler getting slow in my age- was looking at the picture and thought "that knife looks just like mine"!

My quota for the '09 models has been filled, I have what I want there. Yeah the 806-901 came along unplanned a week after I bought the '09 760BK and am getting close on owning one.

Yeah I'm happy with what I have. I will get the 806-901 but I will probably not carry it.

I've had periods where I "walk away" from the collection, but that has more to do with some other compulsive hobby absorbing my attention than thinking the collection is complete. Eventually, I'll stumble across something unique or a knife that I had been looking for and I get sucked right back in.

no, im always looking for something different or new. i often try to cull some out but i usually find a reason i need to keep it and when i do sell one i usually replace it with 2. idk, its a problem. sometimes though the search or wait is the most exciting part of getting new knives.
