Anybody take the plunge and purchase one and are you willing to put down your Ritter Grippie for this knife? I am curious to know because I do like this knife and feel it is going to be a good selling knife.

I received my 950 earlier this week, and it's been my EDC since yesterday. It's beginning to grow on me, but it still hasn't taken the place of my 710. The action on my 950 still needs some work, and It seems like I'm more aware of the clip pressing into my palm during right handed use than I am with my other knives.

I haven't picked up a Ritter, so I can't comment on that part of your question.

Yeah the Ritter Grip has been relagated to the doghouse outside. Hasn't seen a lick of carry since the Rift showed up in town Razzer.

Nah seriously, I'd probably carry it, but it's MIA for now. I haven't seen it around for a few weeks. I thought that the Rift had killed it, and then buried it with Hoffa Wink.

More than likely, it's stuck in the couch cushions, or buried on my workbench somewhere.

Truth be told, I haven't missed it that much. But you took the correct guess: Since I've had the Rift, a lot of stuff has taken the back seat (or in actuality, has been paired up with the Rift). Haven't really missed the Ritter til you brought it up. So I guess I'll have to send out a search party, and issue an APB for its safe return. When I get home from work of course Big Grin.

Big thing with the Ritter vs Rift equation (for me anyway) is the Rift is a bit thinner than the Grip. Don't get me wrong, I still love how the Grip feels in my hand. That won't change. But I also like how the Rift feels too. I really like how I can wrap my hand around it, and it seems to stick to my paws. And that little pinkie bevel towards the end of the handle is the bees knees too. For myself, it hsn't fatigued my hand, or created any hotspots, and I don't expect it to.

The slightly thinner handle makes it pretty much melt into my pocket. It doesn't seem to stick out as much as the Grips do. Not that it's a reason to not like the Grip (it's obviously not that cumbersome to tote around), but it is something I noticed with the Rift.

But yeah, I'd definitely expect it to do quite well (and thus far, it has done pretty well). Even folks outisde of the forum here dig this one. I can definitely see some variations in store for the Rift.

The very best part of the Ritter Grip to me was the great blade design.

Unfortunately, the worst part was the handle design, which made me buy, sell, and trade off at least three of 'em.

I tried removing the clip and carrying one in a large BM pouch, but I'm not the belt pouch type, so it just sat.

You might notice I've still got one in M2, but that's because of what the blade's made of, so it's a keeper.

The 950's a very interesting knife. There were a number of questions: Could I live with the G-10 color scheme over black? (I think we will see a black option on this...) And would I like the blade design?

Well, I do. The 950's about the same size as a large Ritter, but without the thickness...which makes for a very easy carry.

Whether in black or satin blade, the Rift is a winner in my book.

I have to admit that the "pinkie bevel" is pretty slick. I might just lose the clip if it keeps bothering me.

Try putting one of the larger clips on the 950 to see if it changes things for you. The split arrows can be a little sharp along the edges I've noticed!

Any one who uses the term "Pinkie Bevel" needs to turn in their Man Card without delay... Big Grin

Thanks for the suggestion Joe. I'll try swapping out the clip when I get home (Traveling at the moment).

Btw, the color scheme has really grown on me, but then again it never bothered me as much as it has others. I don't know if this is good or bad, but my wife calls my 950 "the pretty one".

I suppose that with a sharp enough blade, we could just lose the pinky altogether. Ok, a real man might not even need that sharp of a blade.

Actually, so does mine. You want a reality check on things? Just ask your wife what she thinks! Wink
