I'm sure there has been a topic on this before but I did not see it in a search. If so please just refer me there. Working for a large Benchmade dealer lets me get my hands on every model every day, but I still have yet to find one as appealing to me a the 690. (Ares are right there too.)

What were the most sought after variants, and who uses them as daily carry knives?? Thanks -Tyler

You probably won't want to hear this but you just missed the boat.... Florijn had maybe a dozen 690 vars out on the bay recently. Frowner (if I remember correctly)

that is a NICE one. Is that a linen or canvas micarta??

I have been carrying a 690-01 or a few months as a daily user and really enjoy it. Thanks for the pics.

The Elishewitz 690 is one on my favorite BM.

I carry two 690s as my work day EDCs.

One is a 690BCCF, the other is a recombination of three knives, the Damascus blade from a 690DM, standard CF/winewood scales, and the gold anodized liners from the AG Russell exclusive.

I also really liked the 690BLU which had blue dyed CF/wood scales. I let that one go in one of my fits of anti-materialism. Frowner

I'm with you, I think the 690 is just about an ideal medium duty EDC. It is a stocky and sturdy knife that packs a lot of strength into a small and elegant package. I think the blade grinds are beautiful too.

This would make a pretty good forum knife... add a little Snody flair to the top spine and an axis lock. Handle material optional.
