MCM, since you already have the 806-M4's, for about $150 couldn't Chax or someone make you a killer set of CF slabs that might even be cooler than the original 806-701's or 801's?

Heck, you could even go cooler than CF...like sandblasted Micarta. I know, I'm alone on this, but once you've held a CRK Pacific you'll know what all the fuss is about on the Sandblasted Micarta.

Check out his gallery on his website to get some wild ideas. Cool

I'd like to see BM re-issue the 812 (mini-AFCK) to go along with the 806. The 806 is bigger than I like, but I love my old 812.

I'm not sure if there's enough room to cram an AXIS lock into the handle of the mini-AFCK though. Did they ever release a mini-AFCK with AXIS? (Mine is a first generation model with liner lock.)

I'm no BKC history major, but as far as I know, the only two Axis knives in the AFCK/TSEK family were the 805 & 806. To make an 812 with an Axis, it would probably be slightly longer...but not much...maybe 3/8" longer. That would still be lots smaller than the 806.

For steel, I'd personally ask the good ole boys at Crucible what would be the butt kicking steel du jour. Let them make the call. They're the ones that come up with it, they ought to know which one would make M4 look like Aus 4. Big Grin

Im in for any AFCK remake. The price is the deciding factor for me though.

We need a 615 LE with carbon fiber scales.
Could we also get a 630 with an axis lock?

Regarding bringing the 806 back into normal production.

The way to become an icon is to die while you are popular, eg. Elvis. Perhaps the same principal could apply here.

If the 806 had never been discontinued then I don't think it would be the rage that it is.

The other thing is that bringing a knife back into normal production would seem to me to kind of betray the trust between Benchmade and the collectors.

People often buy discontinued knives just because they are discontinued and there will not be anymore except in LE.

Does anyone know of an instance where Benchmade has brought a discontinued model back into standard production?

No, they have not brought back knives that have been discontinued (excluding LE's).

They have resurrected models with a variation. Like the 705/707, 910/912, etc...

Sorry for my ignorance, I wasn't around when that happened, but didn't they come up with these variations right after discontinuing the prev. model? Not a year or two later? I honestly don't know...

I can't speak for the 707 Sequel, but, as far as the Stryker to the Nitrous Stryker, you are correct in your statement.

There is truth to that, burn out vs. fade away but there are exceptions.

Look at the 710 done in M4, that was all the rage and is still a very popular variation. 710 is still in production, so me thinks that even if they made the 806 in standard production today, there still would have been a fuss over it when done in M4. Maybe not quite as much but a fuss non the less.

On the flip side, maybe not. Guess we'll never know. Razzer

You're right, TB, bringing back the 806 to regular production would be like bringing back Bret Favre again this fall. Eeker
