I just picked up this 806. I have had a lot of blades that where not centered but this one seems different. It is perfectly center until mid way down the blade and then it goes off to one side and is almost touching the liner. The pivot is tight, and when I push the tip to the center the rest of the blade is then off center. Has anyone ever seen a warped blade? What do you think?

Send it in. I have had two like that and they put new blades in. _______________________________ May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead.

I had one like that. I sent it in and BKC returned it saying they were out of blades. Maybe they'll put a new M4 blade in it. Otherwise, I wonder if Tom Krein could straighten it at all with a re-grind. I also wonder if anything can be done to straighten it if you had someone heat treat it again....or stress relieve it. Most of this metallurgy stuff is out of my league, but I would like to know the answers. -fj ********************** ********************** You are the Sum of Your Actions. Knife Rights Member

Good point make sure you call first and ask. They may have S30V blade from the 701 and 801 LE. _______________________________ May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead.

Well I sent BM a email. That would be cool if I could get a replacement M4 blade but I am not holding my breath. That is to bad to hear it is a common problem. I hope the M4 blades don't do the same thing.

I didn't know that blades could warp like that. Could it be possible that it is just an extremely off-centered grind?

It doesn't appear to be the grinds. If I try to push the blade to the center, the center of the blade hits the other liner. Also looking down the blade you can see it go off to the side. I called and they said send it in for repair. Fingers crossed.

You're going to have to let us know what happens. I know that I'm interested in finding out what BM will do...

I always thought my 710HS was not very centered but after this post, I can see what you are talking about and the knife I have is also oddly shaped. I don't think it is warping as wouldn't warp mean there is a structural weakness in the blade? I've used this 710 for years, sometimes very hard, for hacking and batoning and I have not had any issues whatsoever so it (at least in my case) did not impact strength.

i also had one like that. i sent it in a couple of years ago and they replaced the blade for me. mine was also one of the knives which was missing the "USA" under the butterfly. if i remember correctly that batch of knives caused quite a stir. good luck. hopefully they can still do a blade swap for you. _______________ - Jesse. The 520 needs an M4 blade.
