Wow I'm really glad that I read this thread. I was planning on buying a 912-71, but had apprehension because of the tanto style blade (I don't see any added strength in the design and it makes sharpening a nightmare). I think I'll wait a couple more years for BM to perfect the nitrous design or incorporate it into an Axis model before I consider dropping the money on a gold model. Although I am rather surprised with the quality and effort that goes into design and manufacturing of the BMs that multiple people are having problems with the nitrous opening "unassisted".

Yea. Good choice. Wait it out until they update the strykers. Honestly, my knife feels just like my 40 dollar kershaw, but if they improved the lock to maybe axis? and had the blade be center and not wobble so much it would feel like the 108$ I spent. Sorry BM, you failed on the stryker. Frowner

This is why I don't buy AO's. Who needs them with the axis lock out?

We need a 615 LE with carbon fiber scales.
Could we also get a 630 with an axis lock?

That's OK, the Nitrous isn't an auto-opener.

Both actually, autos are more of a novelty IMHO and I was over with assisted knives some time ago. I feel more comfortable opening and closing my axis knives then any other.

There were pictures sometime back (from The Blade Show?!?!?) that showed and AO 610 Rukus...

I think that will take things to a new level.

AO (no matter who makes them) seem to be prone to issues. How many Kershaws have issues with spring breakage.

I like autos, myself, as I have come to see the advantages in their use (quality ones that are ambidextrous, anyway).

Reliability issues seem to often involve the torsion bar springs. "Why?" is a good question I'd like to see answered, since more than a few cars have used them. I'd like to see a helical spring "assisted" and see how well that works out.

Kershaw, BTW, denies any "problems" due to springs - as they tell those whose springs have broke Smiler.
