Hello all, this is my first post here.
A few months back I was in a Dick's Sporting goods and ran across a 585, as soon as I handled it I knew she had to be mine. Brought her home that day and we've been happy together since.
I just received a Warn 583-1 in a trade, I love it. Like the 585 just more of it and better. Just a couple small issues. There is some up and down play with the blade locked, it looks like the axis bar is as far forward as it can travel. Also the safety switch on this one isn't nearly as crisp as my 585, seems soft.
How hard are these to reassemble if I decide to go inside?

First I want to say welcome to Benchmade forums! Have you tried taken a look at adjusting the pivot screw? That might solve your problem. I would advise not taking the benchmade apart. Instead call BM customer service and they might want you to mail the knife back in for inspection. Chances are there is nothing wrong with your safety switch just give it a lil bit o time to break in and it should smooth out over time.

Nice welcome. Thanks for having me!
Well I took the scales off. Not a problem, I was just afraid of springs flying all over but it's all pretty self contained. Cleaned and lubed inside. She's pretty slick now. Still just a barely perceptible amount of blade play. Tweaked the safety slightly and it's much improved also. I'll still probably send it to Benchmade some day as the axis bar has almost no travel left as described above.
I love my Benchmades. I'm glad I was working on my sharpening skills over the last few months as this D2 is HARD stuff. Now she's clean, lubes, and shaving sharp.
