What’s with the ergonomics on the 14700BX -Auto H&K? Once you get it out of your pocket the release button is hard to find. Not that it’s any better once you find it. It’s flush with the scales and that’s good. BUT it’s so small with little indentation on the scales to insert finger pressure. I’m a short thin dude with average hands for my size. No meat hooks here. The fleshy part of the thump has to be pushed into this small button that’s flush. The button is stiff making it even harder. I can turn my thumb sideways and push with the nail/side of thumb but this takes more time effort and pain than opening up a (place favorite folder here). The knife is in perfect working order and not a defect. BTW: No charge for the whine. Is this just me or what???

The HK Auto is on my soon to purchase list but I did notice (after reading your thread) that the button does not really have a deep enough grove around it.. The G10 needs to be milled out additionally to allow room for a gloved hand or larger hands to release it.. 32BK, 2550, 3550, 9051, 425SBK, 440, 525BK, 527, 550SBKOD, 553BKHG, 556SBK, 556YEL, 555SHG-BLU, 558BT-600, 585, 615-2, 635, 707S, 710D2, 710-801, 730BT, 745, 745SBK, 812, 813, 830SBT, 831S, 890, 890BK, 906SBKD2, 913D2, 923-01, 930S, 940BK, 950-1, 950SBK, 960-SLV, 960-RED, 10410, 10750SBP, 10751BP, 14205, 14210, 14440SB, 16707BT, 12800BK-801

I never had a problem with the button on the HK14700 I once owned, I think Punisher has/had it, but my hands are medium small. That was a good knife, simple and easy to use. 350, 520, 525, 525BK-1101, 530, 580-1102, 580 Proto, 583-1, 585-1, 710-1, 710-2, 710D2, 710HS, 722, 732, 740, 740 Proto, 741, 745, 746, 746-1201, 750, 790, 800, 800HS, 805-1101, 812, 830, 831, 835HS, 840, 845, 890, 905, 907D2, 910, 910SCG, 912D2, 913D2, 12400 Proto, 12410, 14205, 14210, 40022-100. I just got the 14700 myself. I like it, haven't had any problems with the button. I think its nice because its about the same thing as the 9100 but its about half the price... I just wish they made an auto 610.I know they have the 615, but thats too small! I want something that will rival the Protech Brend #1. Burke. A. Engelhardt SGT, TEAM LEADER Ohio National Guard

well, the 147x0 is the budget Auto, so some "good enough"s seem reasonable. one thing I've found is that 9100 and 3550 (though not the AFO for some reason) occasionally ship with everything put together a little TOO tight, so the buttons are hard to press, and the blades move slow. once i take em apart, clean em up real good, grease em, and fire em a hundred times or so they tend to work pretty ok. +1 on the 6100 Auto Rukus Fullsize, btw, that just seems too perfect not to make! i could sell em like canned you-know-what Save a Benchmade, Pay Retail.

I hear ya--sold mine--it was hard to fire and slow once you finally got to it. Great looking and price though! ..............................................................................................................................
