Stings like a Butterfly

Was out of state and visited one of my favorite premium dealers. They had the Bedlam and the Impel in stock.

I would have bought the Bedlam on the spot if I had the money. All I can say is the knife pretty much looks like the pictures (well "duh" right) and delivers what you would expect. I am pretty familiar with Axis locked autos so it lived up to what I expected. Actually in relationship to the Onslaught, it looks smaller.

The Impel, well it is small. And the spring is stout. Was sort of hard for me to manipulate. But if it was your cup of tea then go for it.

Now I have to get the money for the Bedlam and head back down here...

Mark, I have a question about the 8600. What is the extra metal hanging out the back end of the knife for; I assume it has something to do with fighting or self-defense.

Thanks

Also- I too really like this knife Smiler

Yep, the Impel was pretty much the same as every NIB Benchmade I've bought - after a few cycles, it gets smoother and smoother. Also, I become more used to its operation.

I'd say it fires slightly faster than a 580 if that helps. It's much easier to manipulate than a 580 as well since pulling the axis bar still gives you a good grip on the knife.

I also handled both of these today and I have to say, the Bedlam is an absolutely fantastic design.

Now if they would just make a non-auto version in M4, it would be my perfect "bad part of town" carry knife.

I was not impressed with the speed of the opening, however it was on par with other Axis autos.

Strong and fast openings just make us feel good, but functionally they don't add much, and might be more harmful to the knife long term.

I have never been all over the Axis autos, frankly I prefer the button fired models. Now if I was left handed it might be different. Wink

And Auto Luver... Yes it is a "persuader" of sorts. That metal thing.

mark how is a fast and strong opening harmful to the knife long term? are you refering to the spring, stopping bar or what?
