What's the major difference other than the price? The size is the same and the grip pattern is different. They're both black class as well.

Handle material. 5500 handles are aluminum, 5270 handles are Noryl GTX (just like Grips).
Blade steel. 5500 blade is 154CM, 5270 blade is 440C.

Depends on your preferences.
Another thing to consider is that the blade on 5270 is hollow ground, some consider it weaker then saber grind of 5500, specially the tip. Both will do fine job on cutting, but 5500 is a TANK that will take more abuse then 5270.
