I have 2 spring assisted knives from benchmade as well as a fixed blade but i am just starting to look into the Automatic's. I have tried to figure out the laws for purchasing and owning a auto and i am confused. Does Being an E.M.T (emergency medical technician)as well as a firefighter allow me to purchase and own an auto knife? I have been told it does and that it doesn't can someone please help me out! THANKS.

I'm about 99% sure that NY law is the same as PA. In Pa it's not legal to carry an Auto, owning and purchasing is though. As for the EMT part, also a no here in PA. Makes no sense.

You would think an EMT or firefighter would be able to have one because they are emergency personnel and it would be convenient if one hand was needed while saving a life...

Agreed and I wouldn't think twice about carrying one personally. If you're an EMT/Firefighter, I highly doubt that any policeman is going to care. Just my 2 cents.
