I was totally surprised when on the morning of April 14 my 2550 would not open. I relized that the spring was broke. This knife had become my regular EDC since my Mini AFCK was stolen. I've always heard of springs breaking but I just thought it was a rare fluke. Now it has happened to me. I sent mt Reflex in via a dealer to be repaired but my faith in autos has now been shaken. I pampered the Reflex and all I can assume is that moisture must have corroded the spring. Hopefully BM will let me know what or why the spring broke. Right now I sure miss my Mini AFCK. Frowner

Whether it's an Axis spring or Otto coil they all go at some time. I wouldn't retire your 2550 in fear of it happening again when it gets back and know you have others for backup. Sucks when it happens but in Otto's there isn't much else to go wrong and springs by design hold a lot of tension that opening and closing affect.

Sorry you lost your Mini AFCK whatever model it was. Sucks when that happens too.

that does suck.... My best friend has had an auto Stryker 9100 since 1998 and the spring still hasn't broke....

Makes me wonder if auto Stryker is the best built auto....

you could allways get a new spring from a KNIFE place that sells KITS and not let go of your knife... HINT HINT dot COM.

also, don't let this sour your ALE (Auto Loving Experience) springs go bad, it happens.

IMPORTANT!
Don't treat your knife like it's got a bum leg one eye and only 3 fingers, treat it like a mule. Work it, don't be afraid to use it hard.

I know this completely nullifies the warranty, but take it apart every once in a while, it's a nice 10 minute project that lets you make sure there's no hidden grime or grit.

Got my Reflex back on May 4. Works fine. BM warranty also gave me a new pocket clip and all new Torx screws. A+ service!
